A Newcomer's Guide to Evergreen: Part 1

Quick Start Guide Picture this: you just moved to a new, strange city. All you have is your phone and your wallet with all your savings, which admittedly isn’t as much as you thought it would be. We’ve all been there.

So where do you start? Most people want a snack or a drink right after landing. The most logical place to stop is your local 24/7, right? But then you see your potential meals: a cold, greasy, unfulfilling grilled cheese and a limp lettuce, soggy bread sandwich. Not the most appetizing options, wouldn’t you say?

Why choose the sad, sad sandwiches when you can have warm, fresh pancakes or a sweet and fluffy donut? Or even a slice of classic pepperoni pizza?

All our favourite local restaurants are more than happy to give newcomers a free sample or two! From warm and cheesy pizza from Pizza This, paired with their classic Italian Cream Soda, to Rex’s Diner’s famous pancakes and strawberry milkshakes, to the fluffiest and sweetest donuts from Rusty Brown’s Donuts! If you’re new in town, stop by any classic eatery for an unforgettable meal and service with a smile! If you’re worried about a place to stay, rest assured that homelessness is at an all-time low thanks to our very own Opium Nights Hotel near the airport. These rooms are assigned per day so be sure not to leave anything valuable in your room today, since you’ll likely have a different room tomorrow! Anything in your stash is safe though. Along with the free accommodation, there’s an ATM in the lobby where you’re able to withdraw money (once you’ve gotten a bank card from any banks in the city). This ATM is important since you need cash to rent a vehicle. If you do rent a vehicle, be sure to return it to a rental location to get a portion of the rental fee back!
