Civilian Spotlight: Sativa Galaxy

The Civilian Spotlight is a new segment at Weazel News devoted to interviewing people who live in our wonderful city of Evergreen. In this week’s segment, I interviewed Sativa Galaxy. Ms. Galaxy is a familiar face to most around the city. A devoted citizen, she is a newly employed EMT with the Evergreen Emergency Medical Services, while also working at the Blackwoods Saloon as a General Manager. She also gets up to a lot of activities with her friends around the city, like managing an entire recycling company, gold panning, and driving a peanut around while holding a stop sign. Ms. Galaxy was also the Assistant to the most recent Mayor, Agatha Loak. I asked Ms. Galaxy about her time there.

1. How was your time working for the mayor? Did you find it rewarding?

Some of it was very rewarding, like the programs we created. Especially the Welcome Home Program. We were able to help (and continue to help) so many new citizens and get them settled into their new home here in the city. I'd also like to mention the Opium Nights Hotel. It was nice to see new citizens no longer having to live out of their cars or on the streets until they could afford a car.

2. What did you learn about the city and its citizens during your tenure?

I learned that the city has a lot of citizens with great ideas, a lot of ambition, and a lot of passion. It's just unfortunate that we couldn't do more to help them see those ideas become reality.

3. What do you think made Agatha a good mayor?

What I feel made Agatha a good mayor was how much she cared about the citizens of Evergreen and her willingness to sit and talk to a wide variety of people to hear their ideas, thoughts, and concerns. Also, she would tell it to you straight and didn't sugarcoat things.

4. Would you ever consider running for mayor? Why or why not?

I don't believe I would. It's very taxing, especially when you have so many people coming to you with all these ideas they want to see implemented in the city, and there is little you can do to help make those things come true.

5. What does the city need from their next mayor?

Evergreen needs the next mayor to be someone who is passionate about not just the city but the citizens. Someone who wants to help everyone flourish and keep Evergreen a city that's a great place for making friends and great memories.

6. Is there anyone you would consider to be the best candidate for mayor?

If she's willing to run again, I feel Brandi Meadows would make an excellent mayor. She and Agatha had very similar campaigns and goals. If I wasn't already on Agatha's mayoral campaign team, I would have voted for her. It's why we chose her to run the Welcome Home program. She was pretty much already doing what the program helps with anyway.

7. What is your favorite thing about living in Evergreen?

My favorite thing would have to be the citizens. The people and the friendships I've made are what makes the city feel like home. I would still be running away and hiding from everyone like I did my first month in Evergreen if it wasn't for the friends I've made here.

Ms. Galaxy worked very hard under the mayor’s office and continues to do so at everything she does. She is a devoted friend, employee, and citizen. I thank her for sitting down with me and wish her luck with her goals.
