The Ultimate Poolside Bash

On Wednesday, July 31st I visited the Pacific Bluffs Country Club for Peter's Produce Pickers' 1st year anniversary pool party! The weather didn't agree with the event initially, but the sun had other plans and fought its way through the fog and closed the event out shining ever so bright. The guests were provided with free food and drink from nearly all of the businesses around the city such as Pizza This, Rex's Diner, Marlow Vineyard, and more! The CEO of PPP, Brandi Meadows, MCed the event and surprised the guests with a debut performance in Evergreen, a boy group called Our Code! The choreography was very obviously rehearsed, leaving all the guests in awe. They're definitely a group to keep an eye out for! They held a raffle to close the event out. Elaine Vega-Pop'erz took home the Nagasaki, Jackson Dior took home the first Seashark, and Mayella Williams brought home the other. Congratulations you three!

I got a chance to speak with Brandi after the event:

J: What does PPP mean to you?

B: PPP is my way of spreading kindness throughout Evergreen. In a city that can sometimes have a heavy cloud of negative aspects like gang wars and drama, PPP is meant to be a bit of a silver lining to remind the citizens someone is there for them and is looking out for them. We provide fresh fruits and vegetables that promote healthy and less stressful lives, and also provide them with basic essentials and helping hand if ever needed. PPP means that I am able to provide for the people I care about.

J: How have the business around the city benefited PPP?

B: The businesses have helped PPP grow from a one-woman company run out of a burrito racing van and my house, to a brick-and-mortar location that is able to provide fresh ingredients for delicious food throughout the city. In partnership with the local businesses, we have been able to hold multiple food pantries and events that have been able to highlight the culinary treasures of the city. Without the other businesses, there is no PPP, so we are forever grateful to them.

J: What does the next year for PPP look like?

B: The next year will hopefully have finished construction, fingers crossed, for our store. On top of that, more community events such as business bazaars, dances, and many more exciting things that will bring the city together for a carefree time. I will also continue to work on getting more fresh fruits and vegetables planted that have been highly requested by businesses.

Clearly her business means the absolute world to her. It's clear PPP is here to stay, and I'm not sure where the city of Evergreen's many other businesses would be without them!

Happy Anniversary Peter's Produce Pickers!
